Who we are!

Welcome! Our blog follows the lives of Bobby Burton and Connor Schmidt. We are living far apart from each other so we made this blog to keep in touch. The posts will act as blogged emails so you can follow our daily lives in letter form.

So start reading, and keep reading! We are glad you are here.

MUST. OVERACHIEVE. IN. CALCULUS. II.

Ugh. Connor, NEVER take more than one lab class at once. I will be sooooo glad once this quarter is over. BLEH.

I think it's great that you were able to have a wonderful moment with god. I am loving those moments more and more recently, mostly because they have been getting more and more scarce, what with college and such. If only there were 25 hours in the day. I could have an hour with god every day.

Huh, i didn't know that about Unitarian churches. Still, it sounds interesting. you should tell me what it was like in your next post.

...Gosh, i guess i don't really have much to talk about today. I've got a part in a play this october at my college. I'm playing Victor Frankenstein in Frankenstein. I'm really glad i tried out and got the part. I guess i never realized how much i love acting, but just being in this play has made this quarter so much more bearable. If a major in acting was more fiscally sound, i would change my career path in a heartbeat. Like, seriously.

If you find out that you do have A.D.D., don't let it stress you out or anything. I've been diagnosed with A.D.H.D for so long that it doesn't even feel like a real thing anymore. I'm just someone who has trouble keeping my attention on things that i don't personally find interesting enough. ...Ok, i know how dumb that sounds, but if you just think about it like i can't focus on things i don't find interesting enough EVEN IF I TRY AS HARD AS I CAN, then it's a little easier to understand.

Hope you have a good week, cause i am totally stressing over stuff that may or may not need to be stressed over. Here's a video to put you in good spirits. It certainly cheered me up. :)

P.S.

My next post is gonna involve VOCALOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIIID! *nerdspasm*

Going Deep

Hey Bob, You know that feeling when you just connect on a deeper level with someone? Like the time that we were sitting in my car outside your house and you affirmed that you accepted Jesus as your Savior? Well I had one of those deep connection moments tonight ( Thursday Night).

I'm not an emotional person. I often wish that I was. That I would cry, that I would get furious, that I would let myself not be okay. But anyways,

For my floor class, our first assignment was to spend time alone, silent, for an hour. I know for a fact that many people thought it would be super hard for me because I am so loud and crazy, but I LOVE sitting with God in silence. I think about . . . .

Nothing.

Centering Prayer is really powerful, but it is hard for people to do. It is understandable, but it was really hard and scary for a girl on my floor. We got to comfort her, and just be with her when she was confronting the fear of being alone for an hour in silence. I am excited to see what God is going to do with that situation.

In response to some of your posts, Unitarian Churches have a ton of people who don't believe in the Christian God. I'm not sure if you already knew that, but your comment was a bit confusing. Anywho, It will be interesting.

Also, is it bad to say that I didn't really know what one would normally think of when they hear 'marine biology'? I'm not a science person. YOU KNOW THAT.

And for your information, writing papers is NOT easy for me. Actually it is really stressful if my O.C.D. kicks in. By the way, I got tested for A.D.D. today and the results are on Monday. I'm basically positive that I have it.

Finally, A shout out to one of my favorite organizations LiNK which stand for Liberty in North Korea. It is an amazing organization that helps North Korean refugees escape and relocate to America and South Korea. We had a ramen party here at Calvin, our chapter wanted to spread awareness about the Program and what is going on in North Korea. Here is a testimony from one of the refugees.

I hope school starts well for you! YAYYYY SCHOOL

Thursday Is Almost As Good As Friday

CONNOR.
I'm glad you found your wallet, losing it is one of the most terribly worrying things ever in my opinion. I lost mine for a few weeks last year during winter quarter. Turns out it had fallen between the seats in my mom's volvo. it's weird how walking around outside my house without my wallet feels so unnatural now. BTW, wasn't I the one who found your wallet when i was back in dallas this summer? it was in your dad's van. I remember because I was freaking out about losing MY wallet, remember?

That Unitarian church you're going to sounds pretty cool! i think everyone has their own view of god really. The idea of a church that invites people to worship god without the differences between different sects of Christianity is kinda neat.

I most recently was surfing the web when i found THIS:

These guys are hilarious! My favorite is the gorilla.

That cat is adorable. SO. ADORABLE.

I'm pretty sure that any paper you have to write is gonna be super easy for you. You've always been good at writing papers, unlike me. Seriously, Mrs. Gradle's classes were like torture. Plus you type crazy fast. How many words can you type per minute? like 100? O_o

As for Marine Biology, It's basically what you would think it's about. Like any field of Biology, you're studying the workings of the group of organisms in the category. What i want to do is work in maintaining marine environments, like the Puget Sound in Everett. did you know that it actually receives a lot of pollution every year? The sound is unique in that the waters in the sound are so deep that there are marine species that live there that don't live anywhere else! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH MARINE LIFE IS SO COOOOOOOOOL. If I was a fish, i would want to be either a swordfish or a tiger shark. they are equally cool.

What are you studying to do anyway? i know you are taking a lot of classes, but i don't actually remember what you're majoring. Oh yeah, and i'll pray for your bible study. I used to love going to bible study back when i went to Quo Vadis.

seeya!

Bobby

P.S. I'm pretty sure that until the fall quarter is over in December, all of my posts will be a desperate escape from lab write-ups and Calculus. :/

The Big Hurrah

I guess it won't really be that big after all, but HURRAH!

What is this blog? What is the meaning of life? What is my favorite color? These are all great questions. I can only answer two.

In no particular order
1. Yellow
2. A virtual mailing of letters back and forth. A way for people to see what is going on in our lives and a way to remember what has already happened to both of us.

That being said, Let's begin.

BOBBY.
I know I just talked to you on the phone like two days ago, but some wonderful things have happened.
I lost my wallet a month ago, but then I found it. I thought I was going to have to get a new debit card, but it turns out that I never even registered it from like 4 months ago, so I got to keep it!

Also, I've worked out three days in the past five.
CRAZY.

In other news, I think I' m going to go to a Unitarian church this coming Sunday. I'm a little nervous about it, but I'm also really excited. It is an interesting take on religion. Unitarian basically means that there is one god. But many people believe that there is a god and many different religions say that, so there are Muslims, Jews, Christians, Buddhist, even atheists ( which doesn't really make sense). The sermons are more about morality than religion since everyone's religion is so different. I will make sure to post some pictures from it next week.

Here is a picture of a really cute cat. It is stuck inside a shoe which is sad, but also horribly adorable. Did I tell you that I have to write an 1000 word paper NO MORE THAN THAT. on this topic-

Who God is, and How we can know Him.

No biggie, just try to describe the indescribable and how we can know someone who we can't even describe in human words. IN 1000 WORDS. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

There is my stress for the day. Also, could you pray that people go to our floor Bible study more often? There is already a great turnout, but I worry that sometimes people's priorities might not be straight.

As I type, I keep looking at this adorable cat and I keep trying not to talk about it. Its eyes are so. mesmor.. . i. .zing. . . . . . . . . . .

I know you like marine biology, what do those people even do? What kind of fish would you be if you could be a fish?

Ja,

Connor

P.s. The only reason I updated today is because I was putting off homework that is due tomorrow. I Don't wanna write my papeerrrr. But I will usually update on good ole' Tuesdays.

Welcome! Part 1!

Welcome to the Distant Friends Project!

This blog is going to be a collaborative effort between me and my best friend, Connor Schmidt! We are both college sophomores who are going to different colleges in different states! To stay in touch (and just do something totally fun), we decided to start up this blog and hopefully entertain a bunch of random strangers on the interwebs! YAY!

I'll keep this short so Connor will have something to say in his post. Between the two of us, the blog will be updating four times a week; I'll be posting on Sundays and Thursdays, and Connor will be posting on Tuesdays and Fridays. There won't really be a theme to the blog, but we'll be posting back and forth with just about anything that we think the other might find interesting or cool, from daily stuff to stuff that is just completely random!

I'll be doing a personal post to let y'all know about ME this Thursday. Connor's gonna do one too. After that, this whole thing will really get started!

Hope y'all will stick around to read! ;)
